← HomePrivacy, Save & Sync

Save automatically. Restore safely. Sync when connected.

Your working data stays saved in the browser as you use the app. The app also creates local restore points automatically. Cross-device sync is end-to-end encrypted in your browser when the Cloudflare sync storage is connected.

What leaves this device?

By default, your working entries stay in this browser. Two optional features can send data to the beta server: (1) cross-device sync sends an encrypted app payload that is encrypted in your browser before upload; the server stores the encrypted blob, and (2) beta feedback sends only the feedback form fields you choose to submit, plus basic technical diagnostics only when you opt in. Feedback is stored separately from your encrypted sync record.

The feedback system does not automatically attach journal text, prayers you wrote, inventories, recovery responses, DBT entries, or other private app content.

Automatic saving

App data currently stored on this device—

Draft-style tools autosave while you work. Record-entry screens can still use a Save/Add button when that button means “commit this completed record,” such as adding a meeting.

Local autosave on

Automatic restore points

The browser keeps rolling local snapshots of your app data. These are useful if you accidentally overwrite or delete something on this device.

iPhone ↔ laptop sync

How to save and sync

  1. On the first device: use the app normally. Your entries save automatically on that device. On this page, tap Create my sync.
  2. Copy the private sync code that appears. Keep it private; anyone with this code could connect to your encrypted sync record.
  3. On the second device: open this same page, paste the code into Or paste an existing sync code, then tap Connect this device.
  4. After both devices are connected: just use the app. Changes are saved locally first and then sync automatically when the app is open, returns to the foreground, reconnects to the internet, or after you make a change.
  5. If you want to force an update immediately, come back here and tap Sync now. You do not need to export/import a backup during normal use.
Status guide: Saved locally means your work is safe on this device but may not yet be on the other device. Syncing… means it is being exchanged. Synced means the most recent exchange completed successfully.
One-time Cloudflare setup if sync storage says unavailable

This is only for the app owner. In Cloudflare, create a D1 database, then open the my-rule-of-life Pages project → Settings → Bindings → Add → D1 database binding. Set the variable name exactly to RULE_DB, choose that database, save the binding, and redeploy the app. The app creates its own sync table the first time it uses the database.

Checking sync storage…

Set up sync once on your first device, then paste the same private sync code into your other device. After that, both devices automatically exchange changes when the app is opened, focused, or data changes.

App lock

The app lock gates the interface on this browser. It is useful for casual privacy but is not encryption-at-rest.

Manual backup fallback

Automatic saving and sync are the normal path. You can still keep a portable backup file for extra protection or an offline archive.

Restore a manual backup

Restoring writes the app keys contained in the backup and then reloads the app. It does not touch unrelated browser data.

Beta feedback privacy

The feedback form never automatically attaches journal entries, prayers you wrote, recovery responses, inventories, DBT entries, or other private app content. Technical diagnostics are optional and limited to app version, current page, browser/device information, screen size, enabled modules, practice packs, and selected setup goals. Profile fields such as name, gender identity, preferred reference word, pronouns, sobriety date, and direction statement are not included in diagnostic feedback.

Reset setup without deleting entries

Use this if you want to choose modules again while preserving the records stored by individual tools.

Delete local app data

This permanently removes My Rule of Life data stored in this browser, including profiles, journals, trackers, module settings, local feedback outbox, and local restore points. It does not automatically delete an encrypted cloud-sync copy; use “Delete cloud copy & disconnect” above first if sync is enabled.
