Public-distribution content policy
My Rule of Life separates public-domain/original material from third-party copyrighted recovery and workbook content. Protected works are linked to their official owners or stores rather than reproduced in the public build.
Rules used for the public build
- Original My Rule of Life text: may be bundled.
- Public-domain historical texts: may be bundled where status is sufficiently clear for the intended territory.
- Modern protected program literature: link to the rights holder; do not copy chapters, prayers, worksheets, tables, or recurring excerpts without written permission.
- Program names: used nominatively for identification and links. No logos or claim of endorsement.
- Workbook companions: users may record page/chapter references and their own responses; the app does not reproduce proprietary worksheet wording.
- Commercial launch: final binary and every distribution territory should receive a professional IP review. This registry is an engineering risk-control record, not legal advice.
Original My Rule of Life material
Original prayers, formation frameworks, journaling prompts, recovery spirituality exercises, generic emotional-regulation tools, module architecture, and user-interface text created for this project.
Bundle allowedHistorical Catholic sources
Thomas Aquinas and ancient/medieval sources; Fr. F. X. Lasance, My Prayer-Book (1908); A Manual of Prayers for the Use of the Catholic Laity (1889); Francis Spirago, The Catechism Explained (1899). These are treated as historical/public-domain sources in the U.S. Personal modern prayer-book material is excluded from the public build unless independently cleared.
U.S. public-domain basisWorld English Bible
The World English Bible is expressly dedicated to the public domain by eBible.org. If exact WEB text is altered, the altered text should not be represented as the World English Bible.

Bundle allowedAlcoholics Anonymous World Services
Current A.A. Conference-approved literature is not bundled. A.A.W.S. states that mobile-app reprinting requires permission and that it does not license entire publications for mobile apps. Even though the First and Second Editions of the Big Book are public domain in the U.S., A.A.W.S. requests permission for Internet postings because the Internet is worldwide.
Link/reference onlyNarcotics Anonymous World Services
N.A. recovery literature and trademarks are protected through the Fellowship Intellectual Property Trust. The public app links to N.A.W.S. resources and does not copy protected literature or logos.
Link/reference onlySMART Recovery
SMART Recovery’s site states that redistribution or republication of site content is prohibited without express written consent and that its text and branding are protected. The app therefore uses independent summaries and links to official handbooks/handouts.
Independent companion + linksRecovery Dharma
Recovery Dharma Global’s official site identifies its content as Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0. Because a public app may later be monetized, the app links to the official book/resources rather than bundling substantial text unless separate permission is obtained.
Link for commercial-safetyCrystal Meth Anonymous / Marijuana Anonymous / Cocaine Anonymous
CMA’s official pamphlet page limits copying to personal use and CMA meetings/groups. Marijuana Anonymous identifies its written works and Conference-approved literature as copyrighted and publishes a detailed IP policy. Cocaine Anonymous protects its own literature and marks. The public app links to official literature/stores rather than reproducing these works.

Link/reference onlyCelebrate Recovery / Refuge Recovery / LifeRing / Women for Sobriety / other programs
Books, curricula, branded steps/principles, logos, handbooks, meeting scripts and proprietary prayers/readings are treated as protected unless a clearly compatible license or written permission applies. Public pages use short original factual descriptions and official links. LifeRing’s own site, for example, specifically discusses reprint permission for Recovery by Choice.
Link/reference only unless clearedModern translations of historical Christian works
An ancient author can be public domain while a modern English translation remains copyrighted. Public-facing arrow prayers and formation summaries therefore use original paraphrase unless the exact historical translation is independently cleared. The owner’s private build may retain personal/source-study material that is excluded from the public artifact.
Paraphrase unless translation is clearedCommercial DBT workbooks / emotion charts / branded methods
The public build does not reproduce pages, worksheets, large proprietary feeling lists, or branded release sequences from commercial DBT workbooks, emotion-chart products, or the Sedona Method. It contains original tools that teach general skills and can be used alongside a legally purchased workbook.
Do not bundle protected expressionAffiliate links
Amazon affiliate tracking is disabled by default. A developer tag is only appended after the relevant website or mobile app has been accepted into Amazon Associates and the approval flag is explicitly enabled. Amazon’s mobile-app policy requires an approved app-store app, original content, free download/access to Amazon links, and prohibits rendering Amazon pages in a WebView.
If affiliate tracking is enabled, every qualifying surface must carry the required affiliate disclosure. External links open in the user’s browser rather than an embedded Amazon WebView.
