One day at a time.

Catechism principle — temptation is not consent. A craving or first movement can arrive before choice. Your work is to reduce avoidable high-risk occasions, ask for grace, and choose the next sober act. See the full framework →

Holy days, Lent & Ember Days

The calendar distinguishes current U.S. obligations from traditional voluntary observances. Ember Days are included because you want to observe them, but they are not presently obligatory fast days in the United States.

The calendar export includes a display reminder one day before each listed event. Your phone/computer calendar may let you adjust alert timing after import.

Calendar basis

For Latin Catholics in the United States: January 1, Ascension, August 15, November 1, December 8, and December 25 are the principal non-Sunday holy days of obligation, with U.S. rules that abrogate the precept for January 1, August 15, and November 1 when they fall on Saturday or Monday. Most U.S. provinces transfer Ascension to Sunday. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory fast-and-abstinence days; Fridays of Lent require abstinence. Ember Days are traditional voluntary penitential days.
