Relationships

Love without possessing

Govern your own words, choices, boundaries and duties. Respect the other person’s freedom. Use truth and charity together.

Relationship discernment

  1. What actually happened?
  2. What am I feeling, fearing or wanting?
  3. What belongs to me to govern?
  4. What belongs to the other person?
  5. What boundary or duty is real here?
  6. What would prudence, justice, courage, temperance and charity require?
  7. Can I communicate clearly without controlling the outcome?
  8. What repair is mine if I have done harm?

Communication

Describe facts, name your need or boundary, ask clearly, listen, and allow the other person to answer freely. If DBT is enabled, use DEAR MAN for requests and boundaries and GIVE/FAST for relationship/self-respect effectiveness.

Boundaries

A boundary governs what you will do. It is not a tool for forcing another person’s behavior. Separate duty, preference, fear, attachment and control before acting.

Repair & forgiveness

Stop the harmful behavior, tell the truth, own your part without excuses, make proportionate repair, practice the contrary virtue, and allow forgiveness or reconciliation to remain distinct from permission for repeated harm.

This module supports reflection and skills practice. It does not diagnose another person or replace professional help when safety, abuse, legal issues or serious mental-health concerns are involved.
